I’m a personal coach and I support you through the big choices and changes that you want to make in your life and in your career.
My name is Philip John Norman but most people call me PJ.
I hold a Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching and I’m an Accredited Executive Coach with the Academy of Executive Coaching in London. My Diploma is triple accredited by the main international coaching bodies – the International Coaching Federation, EMCC Global, and the Association for Coaching – and it’s one of the few triple accredited programmes worldwide.
I have a background in professional learning and development and I’ve had the pleasure of guiding people through their career and personal goals for twenty years.
I launched my business AuthorProfile in 2011. I’ve worked with over 300 authors and illustrators to help them navigate their career once they’ve written or illustrated a book.
It’s important to me that the people I work with are given time and space, in a safe, trusting environment, to explore and articulate what their goals are. To feel empowered and to have complete ownership over whatever steps you might need to take next.
I also believe you’re more than a goal that you’re trying to achieve. My viewpoint is that I’m not sitting across from a problem waiting to be solved. I’m sitting across from a person. And I believe that you’re entirely capable of learning, of choosing for yourself, and of taking decisive action.
When I’m not coaching you’ll find me out in nature, on a trail or at the beach.
I live thirty minutes from an incredible stretch of coast and my mission, when I’m not throwing a ball into the surf for my Labrador, Enzo, is to see how many days out of the year I’m brave enough to immerse myself in the ocean. A thirty minute drive in the opposite direction and I find myself in the hills of the Darling Range, filled with jarrah forest, granite outcrops and secret rockpools. The trees there are a riot of shrieks and squawks from the black cockatoos.

I read everything I can about the benefits of being out in nature but mostly I believe in it because it’s something I feel inside me. I notice a lightness in my heart and in my lungs. I recognise it in the calmness I feel and the stillness of my thoughts whenever I’m standing in a forest.
I’m sure you’ve noticed it yourself. That feeling you have when you go for a walk, when you’re sitting in your garden, or when you’re lazing on a blanket at your local park.
I’ve started recording other people’s experiences in nature. When they were first introduced to the great outdoors, where they go to switch off, and the things they experience whenever they take themselves off to their favourite place.

Something else that feeds my soul is when I stumble across people who are pursuing a thing that they love. Something that they’re passionate about and energised by. Something that gives them a feeling of purpose. And there are people doing these incredible things at every age.
You can read more about peoples’ passions and their experiences in nature on the Stories page.
